Look away now if you’re of a nervous disposition! Darren Taylor, AKA Professor Splash, has beaten his very own world shallow diving record by plunging 11 metres (36ft) into a paddling pool containing just 30.5 cms (12”) of water at the University of Science and Technology in Trondheim, Norway. This guy gives the phrase ‘Nutty Professor’ a whole new meaning.
Professor Splash, an extraordinary show diver from Colorado USA, has been high-diving professionally for a quarter of a century and works as a stunt diver, holding several world records throughout Europe and in the USA. Professor Splash entertains and amazes crowds the world over, plummeting into shallow water from heights ranging from 30ft to 80ft. The swan-dive itself is incredible to watch, resembling some kind of extreme belly flop. The strange thing is, when you watch the video footage of the extreme dive, you know the outcome will be fine, but you can’t help but let out a gasp. I defy you not to wince as you watch.
